Bethune Elementary wins $115,000 Kellogg grant to help students with 21st century technology ATLANTA
-- The W. K. Kellogg Foundation has approved a $115,000 grant to
Bethune Elementary School to buy an interactive whiteboard for every
classroom.
Bethune submitted a proposal for the grant under its "Let’s Go Pro"
initiative to help bring 21st century learning technology into the
school through the use of Promethean Activboards.
Principal RoseMary Hamer said Bethune applied for the grant to help
fund its goal of putting Promethean boards into every one of her 24
classrooms, as well as three boards with special additional Activote --
one for each grade level-- and three mobile boards for the Bethune’s
media center, enrichment classes and parent center.
With the new technology, Bethune hopes to increase by 50 percent the
number of students meeting or exceeding state standards on Georgia
Criterion Referenced Competency Tests and raise student attendance by
20 percent.
