2012 Community Meetings
 

The next round of Demographic Community Meetings have been scheduled.  The meetings scheduled below will be hosted by Atlanta Public Schools.

SUPERINTENDENT'S COMMUNITY MEETINGS
 
March 12 - SRT 1 & 4 NW
Schools zoned to Douglass, CSKYWLA, BEST, Mays, Therrell and Washington 
Location: Douglass HS - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

March 13 - SRT 4 NE
Schools zoned to North Atlanta
Location: North Atlanta HS - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

March 21 - SRT 3
Schools zoned to Grady and Jackson
Location:  MH Jackson HS - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

March 22 - SRT 2
Schools zoned to Carver and South Atlanta
Location:  Carver HS - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm


PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR SCHOOLS SLATED FOR POTENTIAL CLOSURE

APS has scheduled a series of public meetings for schools slated for potential closure under Superintendent Erroll B. Davis’ preliminary proposed redistricting and closure recommendations.  Two public hearings are scheduled for each school identified for potential closure under the preliminary plan.

The public hearings schedule is as follows:

Alonzo Franklin Herndon Elementary School – Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 21. Both meetings start at   6:30 p.m.

Capitol View Elementary School – Wednesday, March 14 and Monday, March 26. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

William M. Boyd Elementary School – Wednesday, March 14 and Friday, March 16. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Ed S. Cook Elementary School -- Thursday, March 15 and Monday, March 19. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Sammye E. Coan Middle School – Friday, March 16 and Friday, March 23. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Joseph W. Humphries Elementary School – Friday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 28. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

East Lake Elementary School – Saturday, March 17 at 9:30 a.m. and Thursday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Walter Leonard Parks Middle School – Monday, March 19 and Friday, March 30. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Joseph Fitzgerald Kennedy Middle School – Thursday, March 15 and Thursday, March 22. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Frank Libby Stanton – Monday, March 26 and Friday, March 30. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Walter Francis White Elementary School – Monday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 28. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Thomasville Heights Elementary School – Saturday, March 17 at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Margaret Fain Elementary School – Friday, March 23 and Thursday, March 29.  Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

The purpose of the school closure hearingss is for district officials to provide information about the closure process and to respond to questions. These hearings are in addition to the public meetings scheduled on Davis’ proposed preliminary redistricting and closure recommendations, which are scheduled for March 12 through the 22 in each of the four APS regional areas.

The superintendent’s proposed preliminary redistricting plan is scheduled to be submitted to the Atlanta Board of Education for approval in April.
