Mr. Hister
Roderic Hister is a graduate of Lewis University, and Cambridge College.  His class room motto is “I am a winner!”  “….I shall succeed, because I am a winner.  I am somebody.  I love myself and respect myself, therefore, I respect others!”

 

In his 19 years of experience in education Mr. Hister has taught social studies at the high school and middle school levels in Illinois and Georgia.  Since relocating to Georgia, he has taught in Dekalb and Muscogee counties. He is gifted certified, and taught gifted social studies for 8 years in Dekalb County. In 2009, he began working in APS at Coretta Scott King, where he taught 7th grade social studies.  In 2010, he was moved to the elementary level and is now working at Heritage Academy as a fourth grade math teacher.  Mr. Hister expects his students to be leaders.  He takes pride in helping his students develop a winning attitude, and become morally sound participants of their communities.  He lets his students know that when they are willing to work hard and do their best, the sky is the limit. 

 

Mr. Hister believes that the world is our classroom and has led delegations taking students abroad to see the world.  Since 1999, Mr. Hister has traveled to over 20 countries with students and has had the opportunity to experience many cultures and parts of the world first hand.  He has taken students to different parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and the United States and seen many wonders of the world.
