Woodson Park Academy and Emerald Corridor Foundation
Emerald Corridor Foundation is a nonprofit group created in April 2015 with a mission of community revitalization and to bring services and funding to Westside Atlanta communities. The foundation has developed a Grove Park initiative designed to combat intergenerational poverty through efforts in education, housing and community wellness.
As part of this initiative, the foundation has asked Atlanta Public Schools to consider leveraging $18.5 million in SPLOST investments for the new Woodson Park Academy for a new school on the former Woodson Primary site.
KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools, which currently operates eight charter schools within APS and is a finalist in the district’s Request for Information for transformation work, has emerged as a potential partner at Woodson Park Academy. A partner school is an APS neighborhood school that serves students within traditional attendance zones.
KIPP has organized three tours of KIPP WAYS Academy to allow interested members of the Douglass Cluster community to see how KIPP operates. Details and sign-up information can be found at: https://goo.gl/forms/oTYw0oXE2XofXXtJ3.
The Emerald Corridor Foundation is also seeking support to include the following on the Woodson Park Academy site:
