The Teacher of the Year Award is reserved for teachers that:
  1. Exhibit exemplary performance in the classroom;
  2. Are accepted and respected by colleagues and administrators;
  3. Are innovative, creative, and enthusiastic;
  4. Are involved in extracurricular activities within the school or school district;
  5. Have demonstrated outstanding contributions and/or leadership in the school, the community, and the profession;
  6. Exhibit a willingness to share expertise with others;
  7. Have completed at least one full year of teaching; are full-time teachers and will continue to teach after nomination.
