First Grade

Welcome to First Grade!

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Carter G. Woodson Elementary School for the 2011-2012 school year. We are excited about educating your child! This year will be filled with exciting opportunities for learning. Be prepared for a fun-filled year of learning new concepts, skills and strategies for mastering the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. First graders develop and grow a great deal over the course of the year. It is wonderful to watch them as they expand their knowledge and learn new things!

As your child continues to grow and learn this year, we hope that you will view us as a team you can count on to care for your child and their academic progress. We believe that children learn best when the teacher and parents work together to achieve the same goals with a child. We love to have open communication with families since our students are our top priority. We are looking forward to a fabulous learning journey in first grade with each of you and look forward to seeing you again soon!
