We are very excited for your child to be a part of the eighth grade for the 2012-13 school year. We personally want to welcome your family to John F. Kennedy Middle School. Our goal for this year is to provide an exciting and challenging learning environment for your child. Your continued support and parental involvement are greatly needed and appreciated in order for us to achieve this goal. We strongly believe that it takes a village to raise a child and with our combined efforts we believe we can make this an incredibly enriching year. 


Below is a list of activities you can engage in as a parent or legal guardian to help your child to successfully meet the standards, required by the state of Georgia, to be promoted to the next level at the end of this academic year. 



Ø Continue to provide on-going support for your child regarding his/her academic needs.


Ø Continue to monitor his/her academic  progress both at home and school.


Ø Visit the class regularly to receive up-to-date progress and other information regarding your child's academic
progression.


Ø Make efforts to attend conferences to plan ways to improve academic and behavior issues.


Ø Make efforts to attend study-field trips.


 We also want to give you some pointers on how you can make your child even more successful in the eighth grade. Your child should:


 
Ø Be present and on time everyday!


Ø Have all of his/her supplies and materials!


Ø Complete all of his/her homework daily!


Ø Come dressed for success in his/her school uniform!



This year the eighth grade teachers will STRICTLY enforce the uniform policy. The school uniform consists of an orange top and khaki bottom. As you shop for school please purchase these items for your child. We expect for each child to wear his/her uniform DAILY which will help us to build a strong, cohesive eighth grade community. We need your support!
