ABOUT ME

It is my pleasure to teach the Gifted and Talented students at Continental Colony Elementary.  I am a native of Atlanta, GA.  I currently reside in Union City, Georgia. I have been married for 7 years to my wonderful husband Duane.  We have a daughter Aleka and a son Grayson.  In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my family.  My hobbies include singing in my church choir, arts and crafts, and watching high school bands and dancelines.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

I began my educational journey in Atlanta Public Schools. I graduated from Benjamin Banneker High School in College Park, GA.  After high school, I attended Morris Brown College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Shortly after, I began my teaching career at Cleveland Avenue Elementary where I once attended.  I have been teaching in Atlanta Public Schools for 11 years.  This is my fifth year at Continental Colony and second year as the Gifted and Talented teacher.  I hold Reading and Gifted Endorsements and a Master’s of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from Grand Canyon University.  I had the honor of being named the 2009 Teacher of Year for CCES.

MY PHILOSOPHY

“Every child has gifts. It is up to us to foster them.
