HistoryCoretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy High School (CSKYWLA) was founded July 2010. As the legacy students from the inaugural middle school class advance academically, the school adds a grade level. Representing the class of 2014, the legacy class is progressing on target with their sights set on college. CSKYWLA has a singular goal – to ensure each young woman graduates from college ready to make a positive impact on the global community. The school's founding principal, Melody Morgan, set a solid foundation to advance the vision and passed the torch to the current principal, Termerion McCrary, during the summer of 2011. Since the transition, the faculty has reaffirmed the vision and developed additional academic expectations, support mechanisms, rituals and traditions that cater to the complex academic and psychological needs of young women. VisionCoretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy graduates will enroll in and earn a post-secondary degree from a college or university.
