District 4: Kathleen Barksdale Pattillo
Kathleen (Katy) Pattillo serves as chair of the Atlanta Board of Education and has begun her second term on the Board. Prior to her board work, she served as co-president of the PTA at Sarah Smith Elementary School and as the chair of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta. She previously practiced law and has worked at CNN, The Southern Company and in the press offices of the U.S. Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker and Sen. Herman E. Talmadge.
Ms. Pattillo's top priority is raising student achievement for all students throughout Atlanta Public Schools. She also sees gaining public trust in the public school system a major issue facing her board and our nation. Ms. Pattillo received her J.D. degree from Emory University School of Law and her B.A. in political science from the University of Georgia after attending Hollins College. She serves as a trustee of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta. |
