Welcome to Benjamin E. Mays High School where the tradition of excellence is a source of inspiration for all students, and others, who enter these hallowed halls. We are a proud member of the Atlanta Public Schools District where the focus is on high academic achievement and success for all students.
Benjamin E. Mays has achieved recognition as a School of Excellence nationally as well as at the state level. From its inception in 1981, we have held fast to our theme, "A Legacy to Keep, An Image to Uphold." It has served as a guiding force to traditional values and student success.
The vision at Mays High School is grounded in the belief that all students can succeed when given the appropriate educational incentives. To that end, we have created a school culture that provides something for everyone. This is evidenced in the academic structure which boasts of seven smaller learning communities in addition to The Academy of Science and Mathematics. Through this structure we strive to significantly shape our students into well-rounded individuals who are prepared to accept the current and future challenges that face them in this global society.
Our students are taught by a talented, efficient and experienced corps of teachers. These competent individuals ensure that students are exposed to an environment that is diverse and motivational as well as one that encourages success on all levels.
We at Mays High School believe in the old African adage, "It takes a village to raise a child." Therefore, we vehemently encourage a partnership with our parents and community, we are committed to excellence, and to support this commitment, we invite parents and community to accept the partnership and play an active role in ensuring our students a world-class education.
