Mrs. Johnson, Media Specialist
Today a reader, tomorrow a leader!!”
A native Atlantan, I am a proud product of the Atlanta Public School System. I am a graduate of Benjamin Elijah Mays High School, Clark Atlanta University, and Walden University. I have been in the field of education for over twenty years, and I have worked in APS for the past twenty-three years.
My career began at the pre-school level where I worked for Clark Atlanta University’s Head start Program. It was there that I developed an interest in urban education, and after six years at the pre-school level, I transitioned to public school. I worked sixteen productive years at John Wesley Dobbs Elementary School, first as a classroom teacher, then as SFA Facilitator, and finally as an instructional coach. I then transitioned to middle school where I worked five years as an ELA instructional coach at Bunche Middle School. My commitment to education is evident by my lifelong work in the field.
This is my third year as media specialist at Heritage Academy Elementary School. It is my daily charge to equip each student at Heritage with the skills necessary to meet 21st century literacy demands while fostering a life-long love for reading.
