• 4th Grade Teachers

    LaQuinta Thompson

My name is LaQuita Thompson and I will be you child’s fourth grade teacher for the year.  Even though I have lived in Chicago, Illinois for 13 years, I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia.  After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Emory University, I was a volunteer for Inner City Teaching Corps in Chicago for two years.  I later earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at Northwestern University.  I have 13 years of teaching experience and look forward to providing a rigorous, enjoyable learning environment for your child this year.

I am so happy to be with Thomasville Heights Elementary for my sixteenth year as an educator. My mission as a teacher is to grow children into lifelong readers, writers and thinkers. Critical thinking and creativity are part of my lessons and I aim to make every child college and career ready.

I was born and raised in a small town in Texas. I am a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans with a double BA in Political Economics and Latin American Studies. After graduating, I joined Teach for America and fell in love with teaching! Since 2000, I have taught in California, Texas, Massachusetts, North Carolina and now in Georgia. I earned my Master's Degree in School Administration at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2015. My husband, three kids and I enjoy traveling to the mountains and exploring all the great restaurants in Atlanta!
