I have the ability to play and teach most wind and percussion instruments. I have over 20 years of teaching experience, and one of my passions is teaching children life lessons through the love of music.              Letricia Henson is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Henson is a well sought after vocal coach, singer, actress, and director for productions in the Atlanta area. A graduate of Avondale High School of the Performing Arts, Bachelor degrees from Spelman College and Clayton State University, a Masters and Educational Specialist degrees from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. Ms. Henson is the lyricist for “Thomasville is our school” the official school song. Her experience in Opera and other musical genres has prepared her students for careers in the field of music.  She is constantly striving to expose her students with Music knowledge and training them to be future advocates for the arts.  Ms. Henson is excited to be apart of the Thomasville Heights/Purpose Built Schools partnership.             ¡Hola! My name is Dr. Latasha Jackson and I am excited to serve as the Spanish teacher at Thomasville Heights Elementary School. I have more than fourteen years of educational experience, spanning grades 6-12 as a Spanish teacher; and the collegiate level, as a Spanish Professor. I have studied abroad in México, Costa Rica, Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. I am a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (BS); Florida State University (MA); and Nova Southeastern University (EdD).

             I will use my education and experience to provide opportunities for students to learn about the Spanish language and culture. I am looking forward to working with all of the students and parents at Thomasville Heights Elementary School!              Hello my name is Jelani Akil Jones. I am a proud graduate of Tri-Cities High School of Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Program in East Point, Georgia. I studied ballet and theatre at The College Conservatory of Music at The University of Cincinnati . I am  a professional dancer  and actor with close to twenty years of experience. I have ten plus years as a teacher in the school system. I am thrilled to share my knowledge and experience with the kids in Thomasville. I will be introducing them to different genres of dance.     Hello Thomasville Heights Family!

    My name is Debra Sudalter and this is my seventeenth year of teaching art! I was born in Brooklyn,  New York and raised in Miami, Florida. I received a Master of Science Degree in Art Education from Florida International University.

     I am so happy to be at Thomasville Heights Elementary School helping our students to learn the skills which are necessary to be successful in art and life!

     My hobbies are art and music and I love working with children. I am looking forward to continuing a fabulous year here at Thomasville Heights! We have many talented artists at our school.

    Blake Zimmerman


                   Blake Zimmerman joins the THES faculty for the 2016-17 school year after 8 years in education as a special education teacher and administrator.  Mr. Zimmerman received his M.Ed. in Urban Teacher Leadership from Georgia State University and his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Georgia.  Most recently, Mr. Zimmerman spent two years working as the Dean of Academics at Latin Academy Charter School in Atlanta.  Prior to that, he taught special education at Latin Academy, KIPP Charlotte, and McClintock Middle School.  In his free time, Mr. Zimmerman enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, his baby, Ezra, and his dog, Cici.  He is also an avid disc golf player and loves the outdoors.  He is thrilled to be teaching Robotics to our students!

    Erica Turman

                I am Dr. Erica Turman and a native of Atlanta, GA. I am a product of Fulton County and Atlanta Public Schools. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Alabama State University and further continued my education receiving my Masters Degree in Instructional Curriculum at Central Michigan University, and my Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction at Capella University. In addition, I became certified to teach Gifted students as well.   I have been an educator for 16 years. I have taught grades 1-5 in a general education, single-gender, and in an EIP (Early Intervention Program) setting. Throughout my years of teaching, I have served as grade level chairperson and co-chairperson on multiple grade levels, a member of the Leadership Team, a Cooperating Teacher for my Student Teachers, and served on several other committees to enhance student, teacher and parent engagement.  I have also had the honor of being the Teacher of the Year during the 2005-2006 and 2014-2015 school years. I have always enjoyed and have a passion for integrating technology into my lessons and researching interactive and engaging activities. I am now serving as the Technology Teacher at THES and am EXCITED to work with my students to enhance their technological skills.  I am a firm believer that “It takes a Village to raise a child.” I am looking forward to working with everyone and making THES The Place To Be!!!

    Education: Benedict College in Columbia, SC

    Background: Coach Huff is a Community Recreation major who is passionate about youth development. She is devoted to serving others and is looking forward to impacting children’s lives in the neighboring community. Coach Huff has over 4 years of working with youth as a Physical Education and summer league community mentor in Georgia. She also coached girls basketball at her high school alma mater, Salem High School, in Conyers, GA. Coach Huff is working on her Masters in Leadership Organization to help lead other organizations in youth development. She enjoys kickball, tag games, and 4 square.
