Ms. Josephine Caproni

Assistant Principal, 6th Grade

Josephine Caproni comes to David T. Howard Middle School with more than 16 years of experience as an educator in New York, New Orleans, and New Mexico.  She’s elated to now return to her hometown to serve as an educator within walking distance of the home where she was raised.

After attending Atlanta Public Schools through adolescence, Ms. Caproni earned her Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University.  As she neared graduation, Ms. Caproni became interested in education as a form of social justice and decided to enter the field in New York City where she taught in the South Bronx and earned her Masters of Science in Childhood and Special Education with the City University of New York. Then, while teaching at a high-performing middle school in Harlem, Ms. Caproni was nominated for a national fellowship for the Leadership for Educational Change program at Bank Street College of Education, where she secured an Advanced Master of Education in the field of School Leadership.

Ms. Caproni’s experience as an educator ranges from grades K-12 and across all core content areas. She has primarily dedicated herself as a special educator, which has shaped a belief in the unique gifts of all individuals and an educational philosophy that we build on strengths to foster growth.  Her work in inclusive classrooms and schools has partnered her with general educators  to meet high expectations for all students through engaging, relevant, and accessible instruction. She holds licensure in Special and General Education, ESOL, Reading, and School Leadership.

Ms. Caproni is enjoying getting reacquainted with the city of Atlanta, spending time with family, and flying in the air doing aerial acrobatics.
