Sutton Wellness Days: Sutton students participate in a full day of wellness focused activities every May. Each year students learn about and participate in activities ranging from Tai Chi, yoga, organic gardening, food preparation, Zumba, healthy eating, and many other unique health topics that are taught by volunteers and members of our community. We are so grateful for the support we have from our community partners, stakeholders, and parent volunteers who reinforce our commitment to raising a healthy generation of kids.

Georgia Safe Routes to SchoolSafe Routes to School programs are sustained efforts by parents, schools, community leaders and local, state, and federal governments to improve the health and well-being of children by enabling and encouraging them to walk and bicycle to school. Safe Routes to School programs connect transportation options with public health needs with the quality of our environment with the livability of our communities.  On October 3, 2012, Sutton joined over 75 other elementary and middle schools across the state to participate in International Walk to School Day.

9-5-2-1-0 For Health: The Tipping the Scales for Better Health Campaign began in Northern Virginia Schools and is spreading rapidly. It is a community-wide strategy for improving child health through healthy lifestyle promotion.  The goal is to change child health behaviors by creating supportive environments where children live, learn, and play.  Specifically, the aim is to help more children practice the 9-5-2-1-0 for Health behaviors so that fewer children will develop unhealthy behaviors and related health problems. This will require the commitment of not only parents & caregivers, but hundreds of community organizations with the potential to influence child health behaviors. Sutton has recently adopted this campaign for our students.
