Dear Sylvan Hills Community,

It brings me great honor and enthusiasm to serve as Principal of Sylvan Hills Middle School. Having traveled the world as the daughter of a member of the Armed Forces, Over 20 years ago, I made Atlanta my home. I began my education at Fort Valley State University, where I received a Bachelor's Degree. I received my Master's Degree from National Louis University and earned my Education Specialist in Education Leadership from Georgia College and State University.

Over the past 19 years, I have worked as a teacher, Special Education Leader, and Assistant Principal. Still, I consider my most important job to be a child advocate. My goal as Principal is to provide leadership that will empower each student in reaching their greatest potential- both academically and socially. I am wholeheartedly committed to preparing our Golden Bear Scholars for success in post-secondary education, career, and life. I commit to spending a lot of time with your children and getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. I vow to celebrate their successes, small and large, and I pledge to encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school, community, and world.

I am proud to begin my ninth year at Sylvan and my third year as Principal. Once again, I am so very thankful to have the opportunity to continue my work at Sylvan as a Servant Leader and Child Advocate. Please know that I am committed to continuing the upward trajectory of Sylvan's achievements, and I look forward to creating many more partnered successes.

    With Golden Bear Pride,

    Mrs. Monica Blasingame
