Joy Depenbrok grew up in Montville, Ohio. She attended Ledgemont High School where she was active in soccer, volleyball, track and basketball. She went to Muskingum College for undergraduate school where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She also earned her Master’s degree in Ohio from Ashland University.
She started teaching 6th grade in the small, rural town of Newbury, Ohio. After 7 1/2 years there, she and her husband decided to try a new part of the country and moved to Atlanta. They have been in Atlanta for 10 1/2 years and love it. She taught in DeKalb county for 5 years, but then along came two children and she decided to become a stay at home mom. Her kids are now both in school, so she is excited to get back into teaching.
In her spare time she loves to play ultimate (frisbee) and goaltimate. She enjoys volunteering at her church and reading books both to herself and to her children. She loves going on walks through the parks around Atlanta with her family and her German Shepherd.
