It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the new 6th grade Assistant Principal of Sylvan Hills Middle School.  I am truly honored to accept this new role and I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to Sylvan. I’m so excited to work alongside our new leader, Principal Blasingame, as well as the rest of our staff, in our efforts to do whatever it takes to advance the achievement of all students on our campus. Working together, I am confident that we will continue to provide our students with a truly challenging and enriching school experience.

I am entering my thirteenth year in education. I spent 10 years as a classroom teacher, before moving into an Assistant Principal position for three years.  I served the Sylvan community as an 8th grade teacher from  2011-2018, as well as being named the 2017-2018 Sylvan Teacher of the Year, APS Middle Schools Teacher of the year, and APS Districtwide Teacher of the Year.  The last two years, I served as Assistant Principal in elementary school, but I feel very fortunate to be returning home to the DEN.  Sylvan is a special and unique community of which I am proud to be a part of once again.

The middle school years are important and critical times for students. What happens during these years will have a lasting impression on their growth and development. My goal as Assistant Principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that is safe and respectable, in order for your child to receive the best possible academic instruction. I am confident that our school will continue to be a place where our students can learn and grow academically and socially.

Feel free to stop in and say hello, as my door is always open. If there is anything I can assist you with, please let me know.

    Professionally,

    Ms. Mahoganey Jackson
