Mr. Marcus Smith
Dean of Student Instruction, 7th Grade
Mr. Smith was born in Jackson, MS but grew up in the Atlanta area. Marcus has always had a passion for kids and their well-being which led him to a career in the education system, where he is a 12-year Interrelated math teacher and behavior intervention specialist. He currently holds a B.A. in (Business Management) from Southeastern Louisiana University, an M.S. in (Human Development/Non-Profit Leadership) from Murray St. University, and an Educational Specialist degree in (Curriculum & Instruction) from Lincoln Memorial University. He recently obtained his Teacher Leadership Endorsement in the Spring of 2020.
Mr. Smith is also heavily involved in his community through his fraternity (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.) with their national mandated programs such as; Attack on Illiteracy, Achievement week, and Talent Hunt initiatives. Marcus has a unique background in the sports arena with over 25 years of basketball knowledge/experience as well. He believes that we all are interdependent in this world and his philosophy on life is that “We must be Impressive from a Distance, but Impactful up close (Glen Jackson).”
