    Kianne Nicholson

Kianne Nicholson has over 11 years of experience under the umbrella of Federal Programs within Atlanta Public Schools. Kianne has served in several capacities including Data Analyst and Federal Program Field Support Officer supporting Title I, Title II and Title IV programs. In her current role as a Federal Programs Support Specialist she supports schools and departments via managing and tracking federal funds, and interpreting state/federal law to ensure compliance and program evaluation. Kianne’s accomplishments include budget management of grants over 4 million with fidelity, and experience with audit preparation that helped the district achieve zero findings from the state audit in 2019.

Kianne graduated from Georgia State University College of Law in May 2020 and holds a Juris Doctorate degree. In addition, she has passed the 2020 Bar Exam and is licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia. While in law school, Kianne completed over 50 hours of pro-bono and public service work in order to meet the legal and other needs of those with limited means.

Kianne’s commitment to students through the lens of equity is fueled by her desire to interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline. Kianne believes that equity provides access that disadvantaged students may not have to resources and educational support systems.

Fun fact: Kianne and her sister attended Cheyney University (1st HBCU) together and they were roommates.
