Jerry Parker III is an accomplished educational leader, innovator, and entrepreneur who brings nearly three decades of experience in K–12 education and Atlanta Public Schools to his role as Executive Director of Athletics. Throughout his career, Parker has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement, organizational excellence, school leadership, and creating opportunities that support the development of the whole student.
Having served Atlanta Public Schools in numerous leadership capacities for Elementary, Middle and High schools with roles including teacher, Instructional Technology Specialist, Academy Leader, Assistant Principal, and Principal Parker brings a unique understanding of APS schools, students, staff, families, and communities to the Athletics Department.
His extensive school-based leadership experience provides valuable insight into the connection between academics, athletics, student development, and school culture.
As Executive Director of Athletics, Parker will use his expertise in strategic planning, school operations, technology, data driven decision making, staff development, and community engagement to strengthen athletic programs across the district. His leadership will focus on supporting athletic directors and coaches, expanding opportunities for student-athletes, strengthening collaboration among schools, and promoting excellence both in the classroom and in competition.
Parker believes athletics is an important extension of the educational experience providing students with opportunities to develop leadership, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, accountability, and school pride. As he begins this new chapter of leadership, Parker looks forward to building upon the strong foundation of APS Athletics while helping create meaningful opportunities for every student-athlete to learn, compete, grow, and succeed.
