Homeless Education
Atlanta Public Schools’ Homeless Education Program ensures that children and youth experiencing homelessness have access to a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in accordance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. This federal law, reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), requires school districts to remove barriers to identification, enrollment, attendance, and academic success for students experiencing homelessness.
