Students are exposed to the rich curriculum offered through Gallopade and the Georgia Department of Education’s Inspire. Our department’s scope and sequence offers a guide which outlines a curriculum map of “what” will be taught “when” with the state standards as our driving force for instruction. Teachers are strongly encouraged to integrate and provide literary supplemental material to enhance their standards-based lessons. The Elementary Social Studies standards can be found here.
Gallopade: This school year, students have an opportunity to expand their learning by using Gallopade in grades K-8. Gallopade provides various resources in multiple formats, along with instructional strategies and implementation ideas, so that educators can tailor lessons to the specific needs of their students in order to create a customized learning experience for students of all learning styles. Gallopade Curriculum equips students and teachers with materials designed to meet the needs of every learner, with a state-specific, standards-aligned, comprehensive curriculum program. Together, all elements of Gallopade Curriculum provide an extensive system that allows you to guide students through a customized learning experience that positively impacts their mastery of the standards. Teachers can use this curriculum as their primary teaching resource or as a supplement to the State's Social Studies Units. Students and teachers in grades K-5 will have access to Gallopade's print and digital resources via my backpack.
Elementary Programs: We are excited to provide various meaningful initiatives within the elementary space. These initiatives enhance student experiences beyond the classroom setting. This school year, students are invited to participate in Social Studies Fairs, Elementary Debate, EconGames, Stock Market Exchange, District-Wide Fourth Grade Social Studies Bowl, and the District-Wide Multimodal Competition.
