Working closely with Curriculum and Instruction, Information Technology, administrators, and teachers, we plan for the integration of technology into all facets of the teaching and learning experience.

Content Integration Specialists
(formerly Digital Learning Specialists/DLS)
In Atlanta Public Schools, our Content Integration Specialists are instructional leaders who collaborate with district departments and leaders to elevate teaching and learning through innovative and purposeful technology integration. They design and deliver high-quality professional learning, support curriculum-aligned digital initiatives, and partner with district leaders to create engaging teaching and learning experiences. Their work ensures that technology is used intentionally to enhance instruction, strengthen academic outcomes, and empower all learners to thrive in a digital world.
Integration Specialists
(formerly Educational Technology Specialists/ETS)
Our Integration Specialists work closely with schools to design and model instructional practices that blend curriculum, creativity, and innovation. They support district-wide initiatives, provide professional learning, and help educators use digital tools to deepen student understanding and engagement. They directly serve schools, offering hands-on coaching and real-time support to teachers and students. They collaborate on lesson design, co-teach in classrooms, and build a culture of confident, purposeful technology use.
Together, this team ensures that technology enhances, not replaces, high-quality instruction, empowering every learner to think critically, communicate clearly, and create boldly.

Integration Specialists wear many hats. Experienced, certified educators, our Instructional Technology Department staff are charged with assisting teachers with integrating 21st Century Classroom practices that support the Georgia Standards of Excellence as well as promoting student engagement and increasing student achievement.
What does an Integration Specialist do?

Professional Development: The Department of Instructional Technology offers professional development that is immersive, relevant, and grounded in classroom practice. Our team provides hands-on workshops, coaching cycles, model lessons, and collaborative planning sessions that help educators integrate technology with purpose and confidence. Each learning experience is designed to elevate instruction, increase student engagement, and empower teachers to create dynamic, inclusive learning environments. Rooted in our commitment to Undeniable Impact, our professional development ensures that technology enhances learning and drives meaningful outcomes for every student.
- Tech Tools Training: Provide guidance and training to teachers on innovative software, next-generation teaching tools, and emerging pedagogy to personalize the learning experience.
- Model Standards-Aligned Lessons: Teachers may request their assigned Integration Specialist to visit the classroom to model technology-infused lessons with students.
- Co-Teaching: Integration Specialists will partner with teachers to present technology-infused lessons aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
- Partner to Create Technology-Infused Lesson Plans: Integration Specialists work with teachers to create lesson plans that use technology to enhance and support student understanding of the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
- Build Relationships: Our Instructional Technology team builds and establishes relationships with administrators, teachers, students, and in-building field technicians to help bridge the gap between the Georgia Standards of Excellence and technology implementation.
