Brigade Staff
JROTC Brigade Staff refers to the group of cadet leaders responsible for helping plan, coordinate, and supervise the operations and activities within a JROTC Brigade (APS JROTC Headquarters)
These staff members are modeled after military staff roles and work under the Brigade Commander to ensure smooth functioning of the entire Atlanta Public Schools Brigade. Each staff position has specific duties and responsibilities, often aligned with military structure.
JROTC Brigade Staff Positions
- Brigade Commander (C/Colonel)
- Highest-ranking cadet
- Responsible for overall leadership and management of the brigade
- Makes high-level decisions and represents the brigade at official functions
- Brigade Executive Officer (XO)
- Second in command
- Manages and supervises the staff
- Ensures staff coordination and completion of tasks
- Brigade Command Sergeant Major (CSM)
- Senior enlisted advisor
- Focuses on discipline, morale, and welfare of cadets
- Leads drill and ceremonies, inspections
Staff Sections (S-Shops)
- S-1: Personnel Officer
- Maintains cadet records
- Handles promotions, awards, and attendance
- S-2: Security Officer
- Manages security and intelligence (e.g., safety procedures, risk assessments)
- S-3: Operations Officer
- Plans and coordinates training and events
- Maintains the training schedule and operations orders
- S-4: Logistics Officer
- Manages supplies, uniforms, and equipment
- S-5: Public Affairs Officer
- Handles public relations, social media, and newsletters
- Documents events with photos and stories
- S-6: Technology/Communications Officer
- Manages communication systems, computers, and multimedia presentations.
Each staff member contributes to leadership development, teamwork, and the efficient operation of the brigade. They practice real-world skills like planning, communication, time management, and problem-solving—core goals of the JROTC program.
