APS Global Explorers Program

The APS Global Explorers Program is a transformative initiative designed in partnership with Xperitas. It directly aligns with the APS strategic goal to spark student curiosity by promoting robust arts, athletics, world languages, and enrichment offerings. This program paves the way for students to immerse themselves in diverse cultures, broaden their academic horizons, and foster personal growth.

Program Objectives

• Cultural Immersion: Students will be fully integrated into host communities, living with local families and attending local schools. This firsthand experience will break down cultural barriers and foster genuine understanding and appreciation for different ways of life.
• Academic Enrichment: Enhance and solidify communication skills in a language other than English.
• Personal Growth: Students will develop essential life skills, including independence, resilience, and adaptability. Navigating a new environment and culture will build confidence, resourcefulness, and a stronger sense of self.
• Global Citizenship: Through interaction with diverse communities, students will develop a global perspective, sociocultural competence, and understanding of their role as responsible citizens in an interconnected world.

Participant Criteria

• APS high school students in 11th or 12th grade
• Coursework: Level 3 or higher in the target language of the selected program
• Essay
• Interview
