Student Outcomes-Focused Governance

In 2020, the Atlanta Board of Education began a new chapter in how it governs—placing student outcomes at the center of all decision-making. Through a framework called Student Outcomes Focused Governance, developed and facilitated with leadership from the Council of Great City Schools, the Board aligned its work with the vision and values expressed by the Atlanta community for what students should know and be able to do. These goals establish percentage increases from 2019 benchmarks to be achieved by 2026.

The Board’s Goals provide the Administration with clear targets for achievement in the areas of:

  • Literacy and Numeracy Proficiency
  • Post-graduation Preparedness
  • College and Career Readiness
