Mr. Yusuf A. Muhammad, Jr.

Greetings Carver STEAM Family,

I am honored and excited to welcome you to our 2020-2021 School year!   On behalf of the entire STEAM Academy at Carver faculty and staff, we would like to express our well wishes to you and your family.

As we transition into our 3rd year under Purpose Built Schools of Atlanta, I am most proud of the culture of academic achievement that we established.  I am also proud of the opportunities and experiences that we offer for our students.  Our students participated in team building and leadership development over three days and two nights at Camp Highland.  They also dissected sharks and studied the environment and wildlife through the Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program at Jekyll Island.  Many of our students participate in our dual-enrollment program, facilitated by our award winning College and Career Counseling team.  Our scholars also experienced paid internships and valuable work based learning opportunities.  Over the past two years, we created a school community where students come first, and we truly believe in our mission to cultivate student's skills and agency in pursuit of their unlimited potential.

We are certainly living in unprecedented times, but I am confident that we will face our challenges and overcome them together.  And in order to do so, we must continue to work in partnership.

We will begin Virtual Instruction on Monday, August 24th.  Our Faculty and Staff will utilize the Otus learning platform to support Virtual Learning.  Please continue to access the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to see class schedules, assignments, and grades.

Please continue to refer to the Purpose Built Schools of Atlanta website,, Atlanta Public Schools website,, the STEAM Academy at Carver website,, and our Twitter (@carverpbsa) and Instagram (@carverpbsa) pages for updates throughout the school year.

We truly look forward to returning to school in the near future.  We are fortunate to have a strong and caring faculty and staff, who worked hard over the past few weeks to plan for Virtual Learning and the 2020-21 school year.   We miss our scholars and our families and we look forward to seeing everyone soon in-person.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at
