Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, we are putting in place two substantial program enhancements to help these families deal with this crisis.
- We will make it even easier for low-income families who live in a Comcast service area to sign up by offering new customers 60 days of complimentary Internet Essentials service, which is normally available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month.
- Also, we are increasing Internet speeds for the Internet Essentials service from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all new and existing customers, which will be the speed of the service going forward. In this way, we will ensure that Internet Essentials customers will be able to use their Internet service for all their increased needs as a result of this health crisis.

Food Distribution Delivery Help from Uber
The ride-sharing service Uber is offering Atlanta families a discount on travel to and from food distribution sites. To help families whose children normally eat free breakfast and lunch at school, the district opened 10 school buildings where families can come between 10 a.m. and noon to pick up sack meals.
Uber on Friday, March 20, announced it will offer a 25% discount for trips to and from those pickup locations until April 10. Uber passengers can use the promotional code “APS2020” to access the discount. The code can be used for travels using UberX or UberXL trips during the times the district is distributing meals.
