Dear Panther Families
Thank you so much for all that you do to esnure that our students are connected and engaged durning Digital Learning. We are aware that this type of learning is different for many of us; therefore, we want to do the very best that we can to make this as smooth as possible for everyone.
Distance/Virtual learning provides each of us an opportunity to conitnue learning during this extended time away from the school building. The plan assumes, for the most part, that our students will interact with their teachers daily. This will take place in a variety of ways. Online sessions via Zoom in whole group, small group, and/or individual sessions, and the ability to work in breakout rooms for small group/individual support from their homeroom teacher or a support teacher. Teachers will provide assignments/learning activities for all CORE subject areas (Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science & Social Studies). The Explortory Teachers (Art, Music, PE, Spanish, & Band) will also provide opportunities for daily/weekly live instruction.
Our support for your child will not stop there. Our CARE Team (Clinical Therapist, School Counselor, Social Worker, Parent Liaison and Communities in Schools) will also be providing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities that students can engage in daily. If any of our families need any assistance, please let us know. We are here to help in any way that we can!
During this extended time away from the school building, our students are expected to access our digital resources through MyBackpack and any additonal teacher platform already in use by their teacher. Platforms for digital resources may include, but are not limited to Zoom, Google Classroom, Class Dojo, Flipgrid, i-Ready, STAR, IXL, Studies Weekly, Reading A-Z, and online digital textbooks. Non-digital assignments can be made available via email and students will be required to record their answers in their notebook or take a picture and send it in to their teacher.
The plan, as is stated right now, is for our students to be engaged in Digital Learning the 1st Quarter of this school year. Additional information about our district plans and resources can be found at: https://www.atlantapublicschools.us/backtoschool.
We appreciate all that you are doing to ensure that your child is connected and engaged in learning this year. If you need any assistance, or run into problems, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school. We will hold regular Office Hours from 8am - 4pm daily duirng virtual learning. Should the State or the District determine that our school offices close, our phones will continue to be answered. You can call (404) 802-7600. If you must, leave a message and someone will get back to you. We have created a Virtual Learning Parent Guidebook that may prove useful as well.
