Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare for potential reopening in January, Atlanta Public Schools is expanding targeted interventions to address learning loss, wellness, and engagement. As part of this initiative, Sylvan Hills Middle School is offering an after school tutorial for students identified as “at-risk”. This face-to-face intervention program will provide the opportunity to increase your child’s likelihood of improving academic success. Students identified are performing at the “Beginning Level” in both Reading and Math on the Fall STAR assessment, received an Incomplete (I) during the first 9 week grading period, is failing 2 or more classes, and/or have an average daily attendance rate less than 80%.

This five (5) week tutorial program will begin the week of November 16th and will end on January 7th as follows:

• November 17th & 19th

• December 1st & 3rd

• December 8th & 10th

• December 15th & 17th

• January 5th & 7th

This program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on campus. Students who attend will be provided with a snack daily. Please note that we are committed to the health and safety of our students and staff. A full safety plan to include requiring the wearing of mask for both staff and students, implementing social distancing, and following all health and safety guidelines will be enforced. Beginning December, transportation will be provided based on parent request only. However, social distancing cannot be guaranteed while transporting students on the school bus.

In order for your son or daughter to take advantage of this educational opportunity, parental permission is required. Please complete the registration form link below no later than Monday, November 16, 2020.
Available space for this program is limited and will be filled on a first-response basis. All others will be placed on a waiting list.
