    Each month teachers nominate and recognize students for displaying certain MYP Learner Profile traits both in the classroom and in their communites. Below are students who have earned this award so far during the 20-21 school year.

She is also pragmatic enough to seek assistance or support when she needs help to overcome difficult issues.
    Ramirez Ignacio Iara Smith, Kenneth 7th Math 2nd Balanced (October) Iara knows the importance of balancing different aspects of her life and culture—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for herself and others. She recognize her interdependence with other people and with the world in which she lives.
    Iara demonstrates this best in SEL sessions, especially during the Hispanic Heritage lessons where she takes lead in explaining and translating the material for the class.
    Achey Addison Ross, Shatara 7th Science and Design 4th Balanced (October) Addison has done an amazing job at balancing her school work and her extracurricular activities. There has been times where she would have a soccer game and wouldn't miss a beat in class. Keep it up. You are doing great!

    Allen Jackson Burdis, Melanie 6th Language and Literature 3rd Balanced (October) Jackson is the definition of balanced! In addition to being INCREDIBLY smart, he is an amazing baseball player! He is also very polite, respectful, and popular. Jackson is a winner at everything he does!

    Arzate Christopher Blum, Ingrid 6th Language and Literature 4th Balanced (October) Christopher is a balanced student. He can navigate intellectually and emotionally in two languages. He is responsible in class and at the same time he always shows a great sense of humor and personality while we are in our zoom meetings. Besides his intellectual interest, Christopher is incredibly creative and artistic as he demonstrated on his video for the Hispanic Virtual Celebration at Sutton.

    responsible action on complex problems within Visual Arts. He provides informative feedback during class discussions and is one of the few students who provides personal opinions towards the analyzation of art. Leo always demonstrates well planned concepts and produces excellent artwork.

She demonstrates a balanced learner as she strives to maintain a healthy balance between all of her classes ensuring that adequate time is spent for each class to get her work done and on time. She has mentioned that while in the virtual learning setting, she has had to find the right balance between her social, emotional, and academic well-being.
    Boardman Brailyn Seddon, Holly 7th Visual Art 3rd Balanced (October) Brailyn understands the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. She is always exploring different options, medias, and subject matter for her art. She takes it upon her self to do more than what is expected of her. It is her high bar that really pushes other students to excel too. I have really enjoyed having Brailyn in my class this semester.
    Boardman Brailyn Sydney Haag 7th Individuals and Societies 6th Balanced (October) Brailyn is a great representation of the balanced IB learner profile trait. She understands how the importance of intellectual, emotional, and physical balance. She demonstrates these characteristics by always being engaged in class, actively participating, and taking pride in her work. She practices open-mindedness and empathy with her responses and collaboration with peers. Also, Brailyn's involvement in gymnastics after school has shown her ability to balance different aspects of her life productively. Brailyn serves as a leader by example in class and I am glad to have gotten to know her this year.

What's more, he shares his ideas with the class in a way that fosters collaboration. He is a wonderful asset to our French class!

He is creative in his thinking and analyzes information whether it is complex or simple. He makes decisions based on ethical decisions. He displays so many IB attributes, however he is a thinker at all times.

Luana helps facilitate classroom discussions by respond intellectually to questions and socially uses our chatbot to welcome students to class. She is always so cheerful and ready to work in my Visual Art Class.

She consistently balances her school work with taking care of her family members. Scarlett always does her best on assignments, projects, and tests and comes to class with a great attitude each day. It may be him stopping by tutorial time to get additional help, to having a smile on his face during class, to letting you know when he needs something that you may have inadvertently forgotten to provide.

    Goodman Weston Henderson, Felicia 6th Individuals and Societies 6th Balanced (October) Wes is such an all-around, great student. He balances the demands of his academics while still being able to participate in sports which he loves. Not only that, he does it all with such a great attitude and a smile. He is a joy to have in my class this year!

    Herb Morgan Vasquez, Olivia 6th Individuals and Societies 6th Thinker (November) Morgan is a thoughtful student, always thinking answers through completely and sharing her ideas and perspective. She asks questions with intention and she takes diligent notes during class. She is unafraid to disagree respectfully with any arguments presented, but she always greets people with a smile and wave!
    Higgins Riley Ero, Aghaku 8th Individuals and Societies 6th Balanced (October) Riley has been able to maintain a consistently positive attitude despite the academic and virtual learning challenges that she faces. She makes a good faith effort to complete her assignments, participates in class discussions, ask questions, support other students and even attend class on her phone while on the road with her family travels. She has been able to maintain a consistent balance with her emotions as well by being on an even level most of the time.

I am blown away by Scarlet's abilities!

    Louis Toni Haag, Sydney 7th Individuals and Societies 5th Thinker (November) Toni is a great representation of the thinker IB learner profile trait. She has constantly shown her creative and critical thinking skills in class and in her work. Toni uses these skills to analyze text in class and create excellent answers to complex problems. She uses empathy, open-mindedness, and critical and creative thinking to connect concepts to real world scenarios. I can always count on Toni to have a well-thought out answer and plan of action. I am so glad I have gotten to know Toni and see some of this awesome "thinking" she is able to do. Her Africa's Children's Book is a great representation of these skills: creative drawings, real-life connections, and synthesis of information. Hopefully Toni has shared her work!
    Lovinsky Samuel Cruz, Rita 8th Language Acquisition (Spanish) 5th Thinker (November) Samuel is actually born and raised in France, is learning English, and then Spanish in my class. He is definitely a THINKER and motivates everyone else in class. By far, one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Throughout the entire semester of distance learning, she has designed creative and detailed science products to demonstrate her knowledge. Dior is a dedicated student and athlete, a transition not many students have been able to achieve.
