Meet Mrs. Ashanti Lawrence-AllisonCharles L. Gideons Teacher of the Year 2016-2017
Ashanti Lawrence-Allison has been an educator for the past 20 years. Her love for children granted her the opportunity to work at Charles L. Gideons Elementary since her tenure begin. Frederick Douglass High is where Mrs. Allison finished her formal school years. After high school, she attended Clark College, Brenau University, and Troy State University in which she obtained a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Elementary Education. She also has a certification in ESOL. She presently teaches kindergarten which she has done for over 18 years. Her vision is to create and sustain a student-centered learning environment where students are encouraged to sprout, grow, and bloom. Mrs. Allison meets the needs of all learners by designing academically challenging work that is both meaningful and engaging and that continuously inspires innovation, exploration, discovery and creativity.
Mrs. Allison has been happily married for 12 years. She is the proud mother of a college grad, elementary and middle school scholars. She accredits all of her success to her strong belief in God and her beloved decease mother who encouraged her to become an educator.
