                                                                                             Philosophy Statement

                 I believe that all students:

    ·         Dignity and culture should be respected and valued

    ·         Have the right to participate in a comprehensive, developmental  school counseling program that supports  academic, career and personal/social growth

    ·         Can achieve and deserve equitable access to resources and a rigorous curriculum to maximize their post- school options

    ·         Have the right to a safe, positive and nurturing environment

And that a comprehensive school counseling program should:

    ·         Be an integral part of the total educational program

    ·         Reach every student

    ·         Be preventative in nature

    ·         Be managed by a credentialed school counselor and conducted in collaboration with other educators,  families and community

    ·         Seek improvement each year

    ·         Be evaluated annually by a building administrator using performance criteria specifically developed for  school counselors

And as a school counselor, I will:

    ·        Collaborate with school staff, families, stakeholders and community resources to assist student  development

    ·         Proactively serve as an advocate for all students, including collaborating with stakeholders for needed  systematic change

    ·         Abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselor  Association
