This will ensure a prompt response and support a good home/school relationship.1. Refer to the school's Student Handbook for all questions pertaining to the rulesand regulations outlined by the school.2. Utilize the scheduled teacher conference day to address student issues.3. Schedule all student or classroom observations prior to visiting the school.Questions and concerns resulting from an observation must be addressedin a scheduled conference.4. Submit your questions in writing to ensure all issues are addressed.5. Allow time for the principal and/or teacher to investigate your concern beforegiving you a reply.6. Exhibit a courteous demeanor at all times. Abusive, obscene orthreatening language will not be tolerated. Such behavior may result in yourbeing removed from school premises.In the event that a problem arises in school involving your child, there is an established protocol to follow -- starting with the classroom teacher. Unless it is an emergency, please make an appointment to speak with the teacher or principal about a concern before visiting the school.TeacherIf you have concerns about your child's performance in a certain class or with a specific teacher, you should discuss the matter with the teacher first.to:Guidance Counselor or Department ChairpersonIf you have concerns about your child's performance in a certain class or with a specific teacher, and you have discussed the matter with the teacher, you should then discuss the concerns with the Guidance Counselor or Department Chairperson. Department Chairpersons are only available at the secondary level.to:Assistant PrincipalIf you have concerns about your child's performance in a certain class or with a specific teacher, and you have discussed the matter with the teacher, the Department Chairperson or Guidance Counselor, you should then discuss the concerns with the Assistant Principal.to:PrincipalProblems with a teacher, school or the child's overall performance that cannot be resolved by the teacher, Department Chairperson or Guidance Counselor, or the Assistant Principal, should then be discussed with the Principal.to:School Reform Team Executive DirectorThe School Reform Team (SRT) Executive Director should address any concerns unresolved at the school level.to:AdministrationConcerns unresolved by the SRT Executive Director will be referred to the appropriate division or to the Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction.Please Note: All visitors must sign in at the school office and obtain a visitor’s badge that must be worn at all times while in the building or while on the school grounds. Please remember that visitors are limited to:• The parent/guardian of a current student;• Other family members of a current student at the request of the parent/guardian; or• Individuals with official business invited by the school, including, but not limited to, community volunteers, student mentors, and guest speakers.
