The Atlanta Public Schools Adult Education Program provides free academic services, GED preparation and English as a Second Language to adults in Atlanta and Fulton County. Classes are open to individuals age 18 and older regardless of their formal level of education. Individuals under 18 (ages 16 and 17) may also enroll in the program if they are not currently enrolled in school and have a parent's or guardian's permission to enroll. All participants must present valid identification to participate in the program. All classes are free.

GED GraduationThe GED graduation ceremony is held twice a year to honor those students that studied in our program and obtained a GED.
International Literacy Month
September is Adult Literacy Month. During September local classes have recognition programs to spotlight the Adult Education Program. The work that we do is emphasized to bring awareness of the benefits adults receive after upgrading their education and/or obtaining a GED.
Professional LearningQuarterly Professional Learning Sessions:All Adult Education staff members attend Professional Learning sessions each quarter. These sessions are design to maximize teachers' effectiveness in preparing adult learners for the new GED test. The sessions focus on a variety of concepts including best classroom practices, technology implementation, career and college readiness, and other areas of interest in Adult Education.
