Capacity Issues Survey
Capacity issues at SPARK and the Grady Cluster!
Hello SPARK Parents,
On Tuesday, January 21st, at 4:30pm at Hope Hill Elementary School, APS will be hosting the Grady Cluster Advisory Team meeting. It will be important for as many SPARK parents to attend as possible, as APS will be soliciting comments regarding the future facilities plans for the Grady cluster. Your voice can be heard, and your questions answered at this meeting. Discussions could include the future of the Grady Cluster, what the future holds for the current Inman Middle School building, how to reduce overcrowding in Grady Cluster Schools, and possible redistricting. Please attend this meeting if you are able, and please email your thoughts (or simply copy/paste the following bullets) to Larry Hoskins, Yolanda Brown, and/or Michelle Olympiadis.
Two important issues for the SPARK community are the proposed Kindergarten Annex and the future of the Inman Middle School building. After reading through this information, please fill out this survey, so we can hear from you!
SPARK PTO Board supports the K Annex opening for the 2020-2021 school year for the following reasons:
SPARK is over capacity, with hallways used for storage and overcrowded classrooms
The K Annex would open up 7 additional classrooms, allowing for additional classes for multiple grades, adding a band room, autism classroom, and teacher's lounge, which we currently have no space for
K Annex would benefit Kindergarteners with a dedicated facility just for them, and gentler introduction to elementary school, away from the hustle and bustle of the main campus
Future of the Inman Middle School Building
The SPARK PTO Board supports the Inman Middle School building being converted into either a 4th-5th grade academy OR a 5th/6th grade academy for the Grady cluster for the 2022-2023 school year and beyond
Removing at least 5th grade out of ALL of the neighborhood elementary schools and into the Inman Middle School building would ease the capacity constraints faced by SPARK, Morningside, and Mary Lin without the need for widespread redistricting.
The PTO board wants to hear what YOU want! Please fill out this survey to let us know what you support for the future of SPARK and the Grady Cluster.
Please send your thoughts to the administration listed above, and PLEASE try and attend the meeting THIS Tuesday, January 21st, at 4:30pm at Hope Hill Elementary School.
