Sarah Smith Improves to above 90 on the CCRPI

October 25, 2019

Dear Sarah Smith Elementary School Parents and Caregivers,

The Georgia Department of Education today released the official College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) rate for the state and every public school, including our school. This is the second year of results under the redesigned CCRPI, which uses four components to measure schools:

Content Mastery– Measures achievement of students in English language arts (ELA), math, science and social studies.

Progress– A measure of growth in ELA and math that students have made relative to academically-similar students across Georgia, and measure of progress English learners are making towards proficiency in the English language.

Closing Gaps– Measures the extent to which all students and all student subgroups are meeting annual achievement improvement targets (based on Georgia Milestones).

Readiness– A measure of literacy, student attendance, and enrichment beyond core academic subjects.

While there is no single benchmark measurement of our progress as educators each year, CCRPI is significant. And based on this measurement, here is how we performed in 2018-2019: 91.0, and increase over our previous score of 89.7.  This growth is wonderful news for our school and community!

Over the past five years, Atlanta Public Schools has focused on strengthening our academic program throughout the District. Here at Sarah Smith Elementary School we have International Baccalaureate. This approach, along with hard work and dedication from our students, our teachers and staff, and our administrative team is producing positive results.

But our work is never done! I encourage you to connect with your student’s teacher(s) as soon as possible to review his or her progress, and to ensure he or she stays on track or receives the help he or she needs to catch up. Let’s continue working together to ensure that all of our students remain on the path to being ready for college and career!

And please do not hesitate to reach out if you should have any questions.

Regards,

Emily Boatright
