10/25/19 - Sutton CCRPI Success!
Dear Sutton Families:
Today the Georgia Department of Education released the official College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) rate for the state and every public school, including our school. This is the second year of results under the redesigned CCRPI, which uses four components to measure schools:
Content Mastery – Measures achievement of students in English language arts (ELA), math, and in addition, for 8th graders, science and social studies.
Progress – Measures growth in ELA and math that students have made relative to academically-similar students across Georgia, and measures progress English learners are making towards proficiency in the English language.
Closing Gaps – Measures the extent to which all students and all student subgroups are meeting annual achievement improvement targets (based on Georgia Milestones).
Readiness – Measures literacy, student attendance, and enrichment beyond core academic subjects.
While there is no single benchmark measurement of our progress as educators each year, CCRPI is significant. Based on this measurement, Sutton’s CCRPI score for 2018-2019 is 85.2. That is 2.4 percentage points higher than last year, which is wonderful news for our school and community!
Over the past five years, Atlanta Public Schools has focused on strengthening our academic program throughout the district. At Sutton Middle School, we have been executing our school strategic plan with GO Team governance to prioritize academic achievement, hiring and training high quality staff, implementation with fidelity of the IBMYP, leveraging technology to support learning, and engaging our families and communities in the school. This approach, along with hard work and dedication from our students, our teachers, staff, and administrative team continues to produce positive results.
Always remember, our work at Sutton is never done! I encourage you to continue to connect with your student’s teachers, review parent portal, the google classrooms and reach out anytime you would like to have a conference. Through our continued efforts both at home and at Sutton, we can continue working together to ensure that all of our students remain on the path to college and career readiness!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding the CCRPI.
