JROTC shines bright!

Cadet 1SG Hydiea Mack received the Sons of the American Revolution Medal from Mr. Leroy Matthews (Atlanta Chapter Representative). Each year this medal is awarded to a cadet in recognition of outstanding leadership qualities, military bearing, and excellence thus exemplifying the high ideals and principles which motivated and sustained our patriot ancestors.

Cadet Major Medow Currie received the Empty Stocking Fund First Place Medal for collecting the most funds during this annual holiday fundraiser. Each year FDHS cadets participate in the Empty Stocking Fund Drive which empowers Metro Atlanta parents and guardians of children living in poverty by assisting them with money to purchase gifts for Christmas. The FDHS Corps of Cadets volunteers raised just over $2900 this past December in support of this worthwhile endeavor. Mr. Rick Harris, Empty Stocking Fund Representative, is joined by COL (R) Eric Robinson, FDHS Senior JROTC Instructor.  Job well done Cadet Major Currie!
