Message from Principal Douglass

Dear North Atlanta Parents,

You may have seen, heard or read traditional and social media reports about an incident that occurred at our school on Wednesday afternoon. Here are the facts:

-- Our Atlanta Public Schools Police Department is investigating a physical altercation involving two students and the parent of one of the students.

-- The parent was inappropriately provided access to the building, and intentionally bypassed all of our security protocols for visitors.

-- The parent joined in the physical altercation between the students, which occurred in a restroom. School staff members and our School Resource Officer intervened within seconds of the incident.

-- The students involved will be disciplined in accordance with District policy.

-- The parent faces criminal charges.

The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. As such, we are reviewing this incident to see if there are any areas where our current security measures may be improved or enhanced. Additionally, we want to remind you that campus safety is a team effort that requires cooperation and buy-in from everyone, including students, staff, parents, community members, along with law enforcement.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your support of North Atlanta High School.

Curtis Douglass

Principal
