Instructional Support

  • Schoolwide Milestones preparation support via content bootcamps

  • Intentional coaching cycles to support teacher growth by providing pedagogical and instructional support aligned to their specific content (100% of teachers are on a coaching cycle)
  • Targeted professional development during planning periods, which leads to sharing best practices and developing common assessments to support student achievement
  • Demonstrated an increase in student achievement on district-wide assessments in Physics
  • 9 point increase in proficiency in Biology and 8 point increase in proficiency in U.S. History for the Winter 2023 Milestones

New Teacher Induction

  • Instituted a Teacher Academy focused on increasing effective instructional practices
  • 31 induction teachers matched to school-based mentors
  • Weekly Teach Backs
  • Monthly sessions with school-based orientation staff
  • Weekly sessions with assigned mentor teachers
  • Conducted PL on effective Instructional and SEL practices totaling over 160 hours during the school year
  • BTW Induction Program was spotlighted by the District Program Administrator
  • Induction Teachers have been recognized for effective instructional practice

Schoolwide Highlights

  • Compost Connectors conducted news pitch highlighting our new greenhouse
  • $5,000 will be distributed to students with perfect attendance
  • Student speaker invited to Social Studies Awards program
  • 69 scholars earned college credits; 40 seniors will graduate with college credits
  • 3 seniors will graduate with Technical certificate of Credit
  • 10 Invest Atlanta STEM Scholars
  • Valedictorian placed 7th in the swim state meet
  • Salutatorian earned the 1st flag football scholarship in school history
  • 3 seniors earned 5 Strong Scholars
  • 7 athletes with full athletic scholarships
  • 30 vendors placed interactive exhibits in the annual STEM Fair
  • 15 HOSA students have advanced to the national HOSA competition
  • Over 30 colleges and 25 career participants in the annual college and career fair
  • Only APS school with classroom artificial intelligence assistants (EduPly)
  • Football, softball, and girls basketball teams reached the 1st round of the state playoffs

Cohort Highlights

  • To date, the Class of 2024 has earned $10 million in scholarships
  • Cohort 2025 student earned a perfect score of five on AP Language exam
  • Two students from Cohort 2025 served as international ambassadors
  • Cohort 2026 student placed in the top 5 of the state Poetry Out Loud competition
  • Cohort 2027 has exceeded the district's goal (90%) by having 94% complete YouScience careers
  • College trips to Tuskegee, Clark Atlanta, Clayton State, Alabama A&M, Savannah State, Kennesaw State, Florida A& M, Georgia State, Atlanta Technical, Fort Valley
  • 4 early graduates from Cohort 2024
  • 90% of Cohort 2026 is projected to be on track for graduation; entering their junior year and were recognized during their Half Cap ceremony
  • Cohort 2027 conducted an Induction Ceremony for the 100th graduating class of BTW
