JLIA Principal Recommendation
March 31, 2020
John Lewis Invictus Academy Go Team, Staff and Community,
I am happy to share that our Superintendent, Meria J. Carstarphen, will be making a recommendation for the principalship of John Lewis Invictus Academy. Pending Board approval, Mr. Ramon Garner will be appointed as Principal of John Lewis Invictus Academy, effective July 1, 2020.
Mr. Ramon Garner currently serves as assistant principal at Banneker High School in Fulton County Schools, where he was named the 2018 Assistant Principal of the Year. During his tenure at Banneker HS, the school has received many accolades for their turnaround efforts, saw impressive increases in graduation rates, launched the flagship 3DE Academy, and earned international STEM certification. Mr. Garner is a proud APS graduate and began his teaching career at West Fulton Middle School (current location of JLIA) and BEST Academy. He was then promoted to Implementation Specialist and Instructional Coach at Forrest Hill Academy. His focus on excellence and student achievement resulted in him receiving the Teacher of the Year and Instructional Coach of the Year distinction. He is excited to join the John Lewis Invictus Academy team and brings a wealth of knowledge in curriculum, instruction, STEM, partnership development and effective PBIS implementation. He is also truly passionate about returning home to the community where he grew up and positively impacting the lives of our students.
I will be in touch regarding possible dates for a virtual community introduction of the new principal. Thank you for your contribution to the interview process. Your input and perspective was just what we needed in order to make the recommendation.
We are excited for the John Lewis Invictus Academy community and we feel confident that Mr. Garner will do a great job. Again, many thanks for your contributions and I will be in touch soon.
Deeply Appreciative, I Am
Dr. Emily A. Massey
Associate Superintendent K-8
