(Monday) Deadline for Parents/Guardians to Complete “Intent to Return Declaration” is Tonight
Atlanta Public Schools is soliciting feedback from parents as part of the District’s process for a phased return to in-person instruction. The “Intent to Return Declaration” form must be completed by 11:59 p.m. tonight, Monday, October 12.
The form has been sent to APS parents and caregivers, but also is available on the APS website (www.atlantapublicschools.us) and may be accessed here: https://dig.apsgraphs.com/ITR/.
Parents and caregivers will need their student’s “Student Number” and “APS Username” in order to complete the form.
The proposed plan would allow APS families to choose the instructional model that works best for them - face to face, site-based virtual, or Atlanta Virtual Academy.
As part of the phased approach, the District has identified students who would be eligible for a likely return to in-person learning first, if the community spread of COVID-19 continues to decrease. These students include:
- All students in grades Pre-K through 5th
- Students in Special Education Low Incidence classrooms, which includes students attending regional, self-contained classes as follows:
- Preschool Special Education
- Autism Functional and Social Communication (all grades)
- Moderate Intellectual Disabilities (all grades)
- Severe/Profound Disabilities (all grades)
- Deaf/Hard of Hearing Self-Contained (all grades)
- GNETS (Georgia Network Educational Therapeutic Services – Oglethorpe Campus)
District leaders ask that all parents complete the form. Students of parents and/or caregivers who do not complete the survey by October 12, will remain in their current virtual instructional learning model – in either their local school or Atlanta Virtual Academy.
Responses may be changed until the survey period closes at 11:59 PM tonight.
Washington High School Dance Teacher, New Original Song Featured on Good Morning America
Washington High School dance teacher and dance team coach Sean Freeman performed his original song, “Girls,” live last week on Good Morning America! The performance was part of a news segment on how roller skating has re-emerged as a popular activity in the COVID-19 era.
Freeman, who performs under the name Sean-Christopher, led the Bulldog dance team, “Bad To The Bone,” to the 2018-2019 state championship.
