Welcome all students, parents, fans and supporters of the Atlanta Public Schools Athletic Program.
J. Beggs
It is an exciting time as we prepare to launch the 2013-2014 school year, and the role that athletics will play in what will be a great school year. Atlanta Public Schools has a strong and rich tradition of athletic success. Through many years, our schools system has produced strong student-athletes with success in the classroom as well as on the fields, the courts, the courses, the mats and in the pools. APS Athletics has also produced many State Championship teams for many decades. Our success is defined not only on the scoreboards, but also by the impact we all have on the lives of our students.

The Department of Athletics offers a wide variety of interscholastic opportunities for our students. It is our goal that all of our students get involved in our athletic program. There are so many lessons that can be gained from being a part of something bigger than yourself. There is a place for everyone. The qualities that can be learned include team work, dedication, desire, hard work and accomplishing things one never thought they could accomplish. Our responsibility to each of you is to provide the very best we can for each of our student-athletes.

We also hope that you find our new athletic website informative. Thank you for visiting and our goal is to keep the information provided as current and as up to date as possible.

Again, thank you for your support of our students, our student-athletes, our schools and our athletic program. There is no reason why we can’t be the very best at all we do. In order to meet that goal, all we need is you.

  • APS Statement Regarding Personnel Changes

Atlanta Public Schools is appreciative of the leadership demonstrated by all of our principals, particularly those who have served the district for many years.  Like all school districts, APS conducts an annual assessment of where we are as a system, as well as a review of any revisions to state law. Necessary changes are made to ensure the district remains in compliance and that all of our students are prepared for the next level and long-term success. This process includes an intense and methodical performance review of all of our schools and their leadership teams. For the full statement, please click here.

  • Atlanta Public Schools parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey administered by the Georgia Department of Education. Data from the Georgia Parent Survey will be used along with the Georgia Student Health Survey and the Georgia School Personnel Survey to calculate the School Climate Star Rating within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

The Georgia Parent Survey has 20 questions and should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete it. Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.
