Fred Armon Toomer Elementary
“Learning, Leading, and Growing with Pride”
Home of Mandarin Chinese
Fred Armon Toomer Elementary School established in 1968, serving children in the historic East Lake and Kirkwood neighborhoods since 2012, is a terrific place for every student to learn and exceed expectations. Raising standards, enhancing curriculum and instruction, and improving learning environments is the commitment the faculty and staff makes to each student and parent. Everyone in the school community continues to work together, to educate Toomer’s students and obtain the status of a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
Instruction is rigorous, engaging, student-centered, and standards-based. Making global connections, Toomer Elementary School's students are developing a second language in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and incorporating technology skills across the curriculum. Every child is guided to reach their potential, in a supportive and positive environment. Enthusiasm, confidence, and creativity is encouraged and cultivated in Toomer's "Cougars," to develop needed skills for a lifetime of success.

The content tested on the CRCT is based on Georgia’s state mandated content standards, which describe what all students should know, understand, and be able to do. These documents are intended as a student resource. Overviews, test-taking strategies, activities, quizzes, and solutions/explanation of answers are provided. Families are encouraged to use these resources with their children, to help our children prepare for the CRCT. Thank you families for your support in preparing your child(ren) for the upcoming CRCT!

  • APS Statement Regarding Personnel Changes

Atlanta Public Schools is appreciative of the leadership demonstrated by all of our principals, particularly those who have served the district for many years.  Like all school districts, APS conducts an annual assessment of where we are as a system, as well as a review of any revisions to state law. Necessary changes are made to ensure the district remains in compliance and that all of our students are prepared for the next level and long-term success. This process includes an intense and methodical performance review of all of our schools and their leadership teams. For the full statement, please click here.

  • Atlanta Public Schools parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey administered by the Georgia Department of Education. Data from the Georgia Parent Survey will be used along with the Georgia Student Health Survey and the Georgia School Personnel Survey to calculate the School Climate Star Rating within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

The Georgia Parent Survey has 20 questions and should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete it. Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.
