January 25, 2021 - January 29, 2021

Kimberly Elementary School
3090 McMurray, Dr. SW, Atlanta GA 30311
(404) 802-7600 / (404) 802-9447

I am so excited to welcome back our first set of students (PK-2 & AUT & EBD) students back to F2F instruction on Monday, January 25th.  We have about 85 students arriving on Monday (These are the families that have elected In-Person by the Dec 21st deadline).  The remaining students in Grades 3 - 5 (60) will return on February 8th.  All of our teaching staff will be teaching from their classrooms starting on January 25th and we will return to our tradition school schedule of 8am - 2:30pm with out doors opening as early as 7:30am.

If you did not sign your child up for F2F instruction, DO NOT SEND them to school on Monday, YOU WILL have to pick them up.  The next declaration is February 15 - March 1.

No parents or visitors will be allowed in our classrooms or hallways during this time.  Any parent concerns will be addressed in the front office only, or preferably via phone or email.  Please be reminded that APS policy states that ALL persons entering an APS Facility must be screened (temp check) and wear a mask that covers their face and nose.

Parents of F2F students should also complete an attestation daily before sending your child to school.  Click the graphic below to complete, or use the following link:  https://tinyurl.com/y5xc82bu

Our Virtual students will also be on our traditional schedule in either an all Virtual Instruction Model or a Simultaneous (Virtual and F2F) model.  Virtual students should be logged into their classrooms no later than 8am daily, with a preference to 7:45am.  This will allow them to participate/observe any Homeroom rituals like Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and attendance.

For those families that are returning their children to a face to face model of instruction, please be sure to review our Return to Learn Playbook.  This is a live document that is updated as needed.  Also, I want to remind families that if you didn't make an election during the window in December, your child is automatically enrolled in Site-Based Virtual and that cannot be changed.

The teachers and staff at Kimberly have been working very hard to make this the BEST YEAR YET for your youngsters.  We believe that 'Virtually, We Can Do Anything!'

Pre-K Applications Accepted (Jan 11 - March 15, 2021)

Do you know a child who will be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2021? If so, consider taking advantage of a great opportunity to ensure kindergarten readiness. The Atlanta Public Schools Pre-K Program lottery will soon open for the 2021-2022 school year. Applications will be accepted from Jan. 11, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. through March 15, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Seats will be filled through a random electronic lottery drawing on March 26, 2021. Results from the drawing are emailed to applicants after a verification process is complete. Pending official verification, the release of the lottery results could be delayed. Our free, full-day Pre-K program prepares 4-year-olds for kindergarten and provides an early path to college and career. Visit EnrollEarlyATL.com to learn more.

CurbSmart - After School Dismissal Process

As a result of COVID-19 we have to implement new policies and procedures for student arrival and dismissal.  CurbSmart is an easy-to-use app that instantly synchronizes pick-up lane arrivals, allowing school administrators inside and outside to coordinate the safe and organized release of students after school.  Administrators use the application by entering hang tag numbers into a smartphone or other device in which Inside Administrators view a list of student names on another device at a location where they release the students.
In an effort to provide the safest and most efficient release of students from our school, please be advised of the following rules and procedures:
  • You’ll be issued a hangtag with a number. Please display this hangtag in your vehicle’s dashboard or from the rear-view mirror so it is clearly visible for entry by the administrator.
You can view a video about CurbSmart HERE
