I have been ineducation for twenty-two years, and I will use my experience to supportteachers and students in instruction and all facets of school life. I am anative of Cleveland, Ohio. I have a bachelor’s from Ohio State. I did myelementary certification at Cleveland State University, and I completed mymaster’s in Urban Teacher Leadership at Georgia State University. Mostrecently, I have attended Jacksonville State University pursuing an EducationSpecialist degree.  I have taught on alllevels from adult education to middle school education, and finally elementaryeducation. I have worked at the elementary level in Atlanta Public Schools forthe last four years.

Having worked at WestManor twice a week during the 2011-2012 school year as well as all of the2012-2013 school year, I am no stranger to the hard work that students, teachers, and parents exhibit each day in order to maintain academic excellenceeach year.  I am so proud of the workthat students and staff did last year. As a result, our students are among the highest performing students inthe district.  We are off to an excellentstart this year. I know that our students will continue to succeed and excelthis year as well.

    My Educational Beliefs:

    -All children can learn.

-As educators, it is our job to unlock the best way thateach child learns and use that open door to foster their success.

-One size does not fit all.

-The education of children functions at its highest when allstakeholders (students, teachers, and parents) are actively involved.

    - A school is only as good as the sum of all of its parts.

    -Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders.

-Our job is to train for leadership and success.

-Schools should be a safe place where all children feelcomfortable learning and expressing themselves.

-Schools are, “No Place for Hate”, and should be bully-free.

I have an open-doorpolicy. Should you need to see me, please feel free to call me at (404)802-3356, email me at adthomas@atlanta.k12.ga.us, or stop by my office in the Media Center. Thank you for allowing me to serveyour children.
