Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Carrie Baldwin

I’m Carrie Baldwin! I am thrilled to be a teacher at Virginia-Highland Elementary!  I've been blessed to teach 2nd grade at SPARK for two years and 4th grade in Phoenix, Arizona for three years, prior to joining VHES!

On a more personal level, I was born and raised in a small town in South Carolina. I received my undergraduate degree from Clemson University (GO TIGERS!) and my MAT from Anderson University. After graduate school, I lived in Arizona for three years.  My husband and I relocated to Georgia in 2020 to be closer to our families that still remain in South Carolina. Phoenix holds a special place in my heart, and if you have the pleasure of exploring my classroom you will see that through my cactus decor.  My husband and I welcomed our first child, Betsy, in June of 2022.  In my spare time I love to travel, go on family walks with our golden retriever, Howie, trying new recipes and restaurants, a good cup(s) of coffee 😉 , and all things decorating/organizing.  I'm slightly obsessed with antiquing and Facebook Marketplace.

As a teacher, I believe in forming close relationships with my students and families, in order to support a caring and nurturing learning environment. My favorite aspect about being a teacher is witnessing my students’ growth and their many “aha moments”.  I knew I always wanted to become a teacher. My mother owned a daycare growing up, and my best friends’ mothers were all teachers. Therefore, I was surrounded by amazing educators that provided outstanding examples.

I can’t wait to begin the school year at VHES and see everyone’s smiling faces!
